The Nordic AI Health Map launched

On August 26, 2026, New Nordics AI launched the Nordic AI Health Map, a collaborative mapping of artificial intelligence initiatives in publicly financed healthcare across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The map provides an interactive overview of how AI is being developed and used in Nordic healthcare – from early-stage concepts and pilots to solutions integrated into everyday clinical practice.

Annual List of New and Emerging Technologies published in August 2026 in Spain

In August 2026, the Spanish Network of HTA Agencies published the annual List of New and Emerging Technologies for 2025. The evaluations of a total of 66 technologies, covering multiple areas such as cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, e-Health, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, in-vitro diagnostics, interventional radiology, men’s health, urology, neurology and neurosurgery, neuromodulation, neurovascular, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pulmonary, radiotherapy, spine, and surgical procedures, have been assigned for evaluation to the relevant HTA bodies.

NICE delivery plan for unlocking growth by enabling safe AI innovation in England

On August 6, 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published its delivery plan, setting out how it will support the safe, effective, and scalable adoption of artificial intelligence across the NHS in 2026/27. The plan focuses on three areas: using AI for evidence generation and evaluation of innovation, evaluating AI-powered health technologies, and using AI to improve NICE’s own work.

The 2027 version of the Swiss Classification of Surgical Procedures

On July 30, 2026, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (OFS) released the systematic version of the Swiss Classification of Surgical Interventions (CHOP) for 2027. The CHOP classification is now available in German and will come into force on January 1, 2027. Multiple new procedure codes were introduced in various fields, including digital therapeutics, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, obstetrics and gynecology, nephrology and urology, men's health, neuromodulation, orthopedics, and peripheral vascular.

First PECAN coverage granted to a therapeutic digital medical device in France

In July 2026, the French Ministry of Health granted early coverage under the PECAN scheme to a digital medical device (Poppins Clinical) for the rehabilitation of specific learning disorders involving reading deficits. Since the scheme's inception in 2023, all devices granted early coverage have been intended for remote patient monitoring. The decision on Poppins Clinical marks the first PECAN coverage of a therapeutic digital medical device.

New and Emerging Health Technology Fact Sheets from June 2026 in Spain

In June 2026, two HTA agencies working under the Spanish Network of HTA Agencies (RedETS) released several New and Emerging Health Technology Fact Sheets in cardiovascular, e-health, ENT, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, neuromodulation, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and radiotherapy fields. The purpose of the Fact Sheets is to inform the prioritization of new and emerging technologies for evaluation by RedETS.

The revised EBM catalog for the third quarter of 2026 published in Germany

On July 1, 2026, the revised EBM (German Uniform Evaluation Standard) catalog for the third quarter of 2026 came into force. The EBM catalog is used to reimburse day case and outpatient services under the fee-for-service model. The main changes introduced concern updates of the contents (service legends, preambles of several EBM subchapters) and the introduction of several new EBM codes.
