Annual List of New and Emerging Technologies published in August 2026 in Spain

The Spanish Network of HTA Agencies (RedETS) systematically detects and assesses new and emerging health technologies at an early stage, before their implementation, to estimate their potential impact on patients and the health system and provide timely information to support decisions on their possible incorporation into the National Health System.

In August 2026, RedETS published the annual List of New and Emerging Technologies for 2025. The evaluations of a total of 66 technologies, covering areas such as cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, e-health, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, in-vitro diagnostics, interventional radiology, men’s health, urology, neurology and neurosurgery, neuromodulation, neurovascular, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pulmonary, radiotherapy, spine, surgical procedures, and some others have been assigned for evaluation to the relevant HTA bodies. Some examples of technologies are provided below:

  • 4D intracardiac echocardiography to guide transcatheter edge-to-edge repair of the tricuspid valve (ACUSON AcuNav 4D-ICE by Siemens);
  • AI-based predictive model to detect occult cancer in patients with venous thromboembolic disease;
  • Biportal bitubular endoscopic system for the repair of lateral disc herniations;
  • Serum detection of the LG2m marker (laminin γ2 monomer) for the diagnosis and prognosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma;
  • Confocal fluorescence microscopy for the detection of tumor cells in the prostate (LaserSAFE);
  • Advanced multimodal neuromodulation system for the treatment of spasticity following acquired brain injury (Trivium neuromodulator system);
  • Brachytherapy device using the beta-emitting radioisotope rhenium-188 for the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer (Rhenium-SCT®);
  • Reinforced tissue matrix for breast reconstruction (OviTex PRS by TELA Bio).
