In the Swiss outpatient reimbursement system, new procedures that currently lack a specific LKAAT procedure code can receive analogous coding, thereby providing temporary reimbursement. In August 2026, the Organization for Outpatient Physician Tariffs, responsible for developing and maintaining the Swiss outpatient reimbursement system, updated its list of analogous and reserve code assignments, adding several imaging and surgical procedures.

On August 14, 2026, the BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) published the preliminary version of the 2027 OPS procedure coding classification. The OPS, together with the ICD-10-GM, forms the basis for the reimbursement systems in inpatient and outpatient care in Germany. The preliminary version introduces multiple content updates and new procedure codes.

As of July 2026, the Aragon Institute of Health Sciences (IACS), one of Spain’s regional health technology assessment bodies, is conducting several HTAs in areas including diagnostic imaging, digital health, and in vitro diagnostics.

As of July 2026, four medical technologies across e-health, diagnostic imaging, in vitro diagnostics (IVDs), men’s health, and orthopedics fields are awaiting final recommendations from the Regional HTA Commission following completion of the assessment stage within the Lombardy Regional HTA Program.

In June 2026, Health Technology Wales (HTW) accomplished one full appraisal on cone-beam computed tomography for breast imaging in people with suspected breast cancer. Additionally, three Med Tech-related Topic Exploration Reports were published in the fields of e-health and in vitro diagnostics.

Between January 1 and June 1, 2026, seven MedTech-related mini-HTAs were initiated in Norway across orthopedics, neurology and rehabilitation, in vitro diagnostics, interventional radiology, diagnostic imaging, and e-health. These assessments are conducted as part of Norway’s framework for the managed introduction of innovations, known as “New Methods”.

In May 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published two new Early Use HealthTech Guidances (HTGs) on digital technologies to support self-management of asthma and artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies for echocardiography analysis and reporting in heart failure.

The Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT) initiated seventeen new health technology assessments in Poland in the second quarter of 2026. The assessments mainly cover cardiovascular medicine, diagnostic imaging, e-health, in-vitro diagnostics, pulmonology, and neurology.

In March 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released five Med Tech-related assessments in its HTA Journal, which concerned eye screening programs in diabetes, surgical and non-surgical splint treatment for finger fractures, diagnostic strategies for ovarian cancer, biomarkers for outcomes prediction in adults with suspected sepsis, and diagnostic tools of peripheral arterial disease in diabetes.

As of March 2026, the Scottish Health Technologies Group is working on health technology assessments in several areas, including diagnostic imaging, e-health, endoscopy, ENT, in-vitro diagnostics, and radiotherapy.

In February 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released five Med Tech-related assessments in its HTA Journal, which concerned hysteroscopic removal of endometrial polyps and submucosal fibroids, magnetic resonance enterography for Crohn's disease, oxygen saturation in critically ill children, paravertebral and thoracic epidural blockade for post-thoracotomy pain and Artificial Intelligence technologies for assessing skin lesions.

In January 2026, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) awarded fourteen projects under the “Implementation round 3” of the Efficiency Research program, including the MedTech projects in e-health, gastrointestinal, oncology, neurosurgery, IVD, and cardiovascular fields.
