Health technology assessments initiated in the second quarter of 2026 in Poland

The Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT) initiated seventeen new health technology assessments in Poland in the second quarter of 2026. The assessments mainly cover cardiovascular medicine, diagnostic imaging, e-health, in-vitro diagnostics, pulmonology, and neurology.

Examples of the topics of the initiated assessments are provided below.

  • Cardiac MRI with stress perfusion assessment;
  • Determination of anti-IA2 and anti-ZnT8 antibodies in the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in children and adults;
  • Ergospitrometry;
  • Multi-day monitoring of cardiac activity using analog or digital devices;
  • Outpatient polygraphy to confirm the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), as well as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) monitoring and titration.

Molecular gene profile analysis with Oncotype DX to be covered for extended indications in Norway

On May 18, 2026, the Decision Forum for “New Methods” updated its coverage decision for molecular gene profile analysis using Oncotype DX. The test, which has been covered since 2024 for postmenopausal patients with lymph node-positive HR-positive, HER2-negative, early-stage invasive breast cancer, will now also be covered for patients with lymph node-negative breast cancer.

Phase-out mechanism for telemonitoring activities reimbursed via LATM introduced in France

On May 20, 2026, the French Ministry of Health published the Decree, establishing a phase-out mechanism for older medical telemonitoring activities reimbursed via LATM when a newer, superior solution is registered for the same indication. Older solutions are subject to a 36-month transitional period before the removal, with three successive annual tariff reductions of 10% vs. the tariff of the newly registered solution.

Regular update of the Norwegian Laboratory Code System released

On May 22, 2026, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released an updated version (v.80) of the Norwegian Laboratory Code (NLK) system, along with associated tariffs, for both state and private laboratories. A total of 23 new codes were added in the biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology fields.

Digi-HTA assessment scale updated in Finland

In April 2026, the Finnish Coordinating Center for Health Technology Assessment (FinCCHTA) updated the Digi-HTA assessment scale. Products are now scored across five evaluation subareas using a scale of 2, 1.7, 0.9, or -4. FinCCHTA issues its final recommendation through a traffic light model based on the total score, with 10 points corresponding to the green category and a score of 4 or below corresponding to the red category.

New and Emerging Health Technology Fact Sheets from April 2026 in Spain

In April 2026, two HTA agencies working under the Spanish Network of HTA Agencies (RedETS) released several New and Emerging Health Technology Fact Sheets in cardiovascular, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, e-health, in-vitro diagnostics, men’s health, obstetrics and gynecology, peripheral vascular, robotic surgery and some other fields. The purpose of the Fact Sheets is to inform the prioritization of new and emerging technologies for evaluation by RedETS.
