Projects selected for the 2025-2026 Health Economic Research Program announced in France

Coverage-with-evidence-development (CED) programs are designed to assess innovations in terms of feasibility, efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness before their implementation in the healthcare system, or to provide a framework for their managed introduction while key evidence gaps are addressed in parallel. Several CED programs exist in France, including the Health Economic Research Program (Programme de Recherche Médico-Economique, PRME), which evaluates the clinical and health-economic utility of novel methods.

On September 10, 2026, the Ministry of Health, Family, Autonomy and People with Disabilities announced the list of projects selected for the 2025-2026 PRME. Nine projects were selected, four of which concern MedTech in the areas of nuclear imaging, in vitro diagnostics, thrombocytopenia treatment, and endoscopic procedures in gastroenterology. The amounts allocated to each project have not yet been disclosed.

Some examples of the selected projects are provided below:

• Impact and cost-effectiveness of biodegradable pancreatic stents in the prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis: a randomized controlled trial;
• Health-economic evaluation of residual disease monitoring by flow cytometry after intensive treatment in patients over 60 years of age with acute myeloid leukemia.
