Lombardy HTA Program issued final recommendations for three technologies in August 2026
The Lombardy Regional Health Technology Assessment Program supports evidence-based decisions on the introduction and appropriate use of health technologies within the regional healthcare system. This program involves several stages: technology identification, prioritization, assessment (HTA), and appraisal, with final recommendations for introduction.
On August 27, 2026, following completion of the appraisal stage, the Regional HTA Commission issued final recommendations for three medical technologies.
Two technologies received favorable opinions supporting their introduction into the regional healthcare system (appropriateness-of-use index exceeded the 0.50 acceptability threshold):
- Elecsys proBNP II for cardiovascular and heart failure risk stratification in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (appropriateness-of-use index of 0.55);
- Transfemoral osseointegrated prosthesis implantation for the rehabilitation of selected patients with transfemoral amputations who have failed or are intolerant of traditional socket prostheses (appropriateness-of-use index of 0.53).
One in vitro diagnostic technology received an unfavorable opinion.
