Work plan for the development of specialised commissioning policies in England as of July 2026

On August 3, 2026, NHS England released an updated work plan for the development of Clinical Commissioning Policies for specialised services, reflecting the status as of July 2026. The update includes four new MedTech-related policies in the radiotherapy and orthopedic fields, and the initiation of two new policies in the gastrointestinal and reproductive health areas. The status of ongoing policies has been revised, and two policies for proton beam therapy have been discontinued.

New THL procedure codes to be introduced in Finland in 2027

In July 2026, the Finnish classification of procedures (THL) was updated. Eighty-four procedure codes concerning cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, pulmonary and airways, radiology, surgical procedures, and some other fields were introduced to come into force on January 1, 2027.

New CCAM codes introduced in France

In mid-December 2025, a new version of the Common Classification of Medical Procedures (CCAM v.81), effective January 1, 2026, was published. Multiple changes were implemented, including the introduction of four new procedure codes, the provisional registration of four codes, the deletion of a few codes, the modification of tariffs for numerous activities/phases, and the amendment of existing services.

The 2026 final version of the SwissDRG released

On November 28, 2025, the entity managing the DRG system in Switzerland, SwissDRG, published the final (billing) version of the 2026 DRG system. In total, 19 new DRGs related to cardiovascular, ENT, gastrointestinal, neurology and neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and some other fields were introduced. Also, four new add-on reimbursement categories were added.

The final version of the 2023 OPS procedure coding classification released in Germany

On October 27, 2022, the BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) published the final version of the 2023 OPS procedure coding classification. The OPS, together with the ICD-10-GM (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, German Modification), forms the basis for the reimbursement systems in outpatient and inpatient care in Germany.

Closed-loop systems and the artificial pancreas for T1DM recommendation released in Scotland

In January 2022, the Scottish Health Technology Group released a recommendation of the closed-loop systems and the artificial pancreas for type one diabetes mellitus. The limited use of closed-loop systems in routine clinical care makes it difficult to estimate device-related adverse event rates. No evidence was identified for artificial pancreas systems (multi-hormone closed-loop systems) available on the UK market.
