New THL procedure codes to be introduced in Finland in 2027

In July 2026, the Finnish classification of procedures (THL) was updated. Eighty-four procedure codes concerning cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, pulmonary and airways, radiology, surgical procedures, and some other fields were introduced to come into force on January 1, 2027. 

The examples of newly introduced procedure codes include:

  • FPE61 Implantation of a leadless atrial pacemaker;
  • JLC61 Endoscopic pancreatic necrosectomy;
  • ABD76 Replacement of a pulse generator for sacral neuromodulation;
  • GX1T5 Exercise spirometry;
  • AA5FR Brain amyloid protein PET/CT scan;
  • JBB05 Paraesophageal hernia repair with synthetic material with laparoscopic approach.
