Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

The first release of the DRG package for 2027 was published in the Netherlands

On May 1, 2026, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the first release of the 2027 DRG package (RZ27a) that applies to specialist medical care. Seven new procedure codes, one new diagnosis code, two new supplementary payments (OZPs), and 23 DRGs will be implemented. The other changes include technical changes and tariff updates. 

Seven new Med Tech-related procedure codes will be introduced. Some examples include:

  • Code 034641 “Submucosal therapeutic endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract”;
  • Code 036548 “Transurethral enucleation of the prostate”;
  • Code 037243 “Transabdominal cervical cerclage”. 

Two supplementary payments (OZPs) concerned codes 050555 “Postmortem pathology examination” and 190094 “Costs of emergency care in the emergency department of a budgeted healthcare provider”.

A total of 23 new DRGs will be implemented to categorize endoscopic gastrointestinal procedures. For example:

  • DRG 028899054 “Very complex examination or treatment of the gastrointestinal tract with a maximum of 2 hospital stays for a benign or malignant tumor or polyp of the digestive system”;
  • DRG 119999020 "Complex examination or treatment of the gastrointestinal tract with a maximum of 2 hospital days for a disease of the esophagus, stomach, or duodenum”.

The effective date of the release is January 1, 2027.
