Rapid HTAs of five medical devices released in Tuscany in May 2026

Tuscany remains the most active Italian region in conducting HTA for medical devices, with HTA-based recommendations influencing regional adoption and procurement decisions.

Under Regional Decree No. 9122 of April 28, 2026, the Tuscany Regional Healthcare Authority released five new rapid HTA reports on May 4, 2026. The assessed technologies covered the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal endoscopy areas.

Examples of devices that received favorable recommendations include:

  • Occlutech Paravalvular Leak Device (PLD) by Occlutech, intended for the closure of paravalvular leaks;
  • SX-Ella Biodegradable Esophageal Stent BD by ELLA-CS, indicated for the treatment of benign esophageal strictures.
