In July 2026, the Finnish classification of procedures (THL) was updated. Eighty-four procedure codes concerning cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, pulmonary and airways, radiology, surgical procedures, and some other fields were introduced to come into force on January 1, 2027.

The Danish Health Data Authority quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (SKS). The latest version was published in mid-June 2026 to come into force on July 1, 2026. Among other changes, 54 new procedure codes concerning cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, men’s health, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, surgical procedures, dermatology, and some other fields were introduced.

In February 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released five Med Tech-related assessments in its HTA Journal, which concerned hysteroscopic removal of endometrial polyps and submucosal fibroids, magnetic resonance enterography for Crohn's disease, oxygen saturation in critically ill children, paravertebral and thoracic epidural blockade for post-thoracotomy pain and Artificial Intelligence technologies for assessing skin lesions.

In January 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released three Med Tech-related assessments in its HTA Journal, which concerned digital technologies for chronic tic disorders and Tourette Syndrome, bariatric surgical interventions for severe obesity, and laparoscopic surgery and medical treatment for deep endometriosis.

In January 2026, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) awarded fourteen projects under the “Implementation round 3” of the Efficiency Research program, including the MedTech projects in e-health, gastrointestinal, oncology, neurosurgery, IVD, and cardiovascular fields.

In December 2025, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released three Med Tech-related assessments in its HTA Journal, which concerned endoscopic treatments for obesity, whole-genome sequencing for rare diseases in newborn screening, and a tele-ophthalmology-enabled and artificial intelligence-ready referral pathway for community optometry referrals of retinal disease.

In June 2025, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published three new Interventional Procedures Guidance (TAVI in native aortic valve regurgitation, targeted muscle reinnervation for limb amputation pain, laparoscopic insertion of inactive implant for GERD). Furthermore, three clinical guidelines were updated.

On February 17, 2025, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclatures for private payers in England, published Bulletins 200 and 096 with changes to be implemented no later than March 10, 2025. Thirty-five new procedure codes related to cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, nephrology, peripheral vascular, and general surgery areas and ten new diagnostic codes concerning in-vitro diagnostics, endoscopy, and pulmonology were introduced.

On January 1, 2025, the annual update of the Finnish NordDRG system came into force. A total of 54 new DRGs were introduced concerning cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, ENT, neurology and neurosurgery, men’s health, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, peripheral vascular, pulmonary and airways, spine, and surgical procedures fields.

Six new surgical procedure codes, twenty new medical procedure codes, and nine new codes for diagnostic investigations were introduced concerning multiple areas, including diagnostic imaging, gastrointestinal, gynecology, orthopedics, and surgical procedures.
