New Case Study Published: Increasing Day-Case Reimbursement for Interventional MedTech in a Nordic Market

MTRC has published a new case study showing how a reimbursement application helped a large MedTech company improve funding for an interventional procedure performed in day-case settings in a Nordic country.

The client faced limited access because day-case reimbursement covered only around 20% of the required procedure cost, creating a financial disincentive for hospitals and driving interest in cheaper, lower-quality alternatives.

Over six months, MTRC mapped coding and tariff practices, reviewed guideline status, benchmarked other Nordic markets, and coordinated engagement with leading hospitals and clinical stakeholders supporting the submission.

The final dossier combined a procedure and technology description, clinical and health economic evidence, guideline and HTA endorsements, and a cost comparison between inpatient and day-case delivery.

Following NordDRG-level review, the national DRG authority introduced a new DRG for the procedure with a significantly improved tariff.

The case demonstrates how structured reimbursement strategy, clinical engagement, and robust cost evidence can improve access for MedTech procedures in day-case settings.
