EU HTA Publication Digest: Evidence Synthesis via Indirect Treatment Comparisons in the European Framework of Joint Clinical Assessment

In a recent publication, de la Cuadra-Grande et al. developed a methodological framework for interpreting indirect treatment comparisons within the Joint Clinical Assessment process under the EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation. It aims to support stakeholders in addressing PICO questions when direct randomized evidence is unavailable or when comparators differ across trials. The authors highlighted that robust interpretation of indirect treatment comparisons requires careful assessment of core assumptions, appropriate method selection, and transparent consideration of the strengths and limitations of each approach.
