The revised EBM catalog for the third quarter of 2026 published in Germany

On July 1, 2026, the revised EBM (German Uniform Evaluation Standard) catalog for the third quarter of 2026 came into force. The EBM catalog is used to reimburse day case and outpatient services under the fee-for-service model. The main changes introduced concern updates of the contents (service legends, preambles of several EBM subchapters) and the introduction of several new EBM codes.

Examples of the newly introduced EBM codes include codes for follow-up care and evaluation provided by general practitioners, internists without a subspecialty, rheumatologists, orthopedists, specialists in physical and rehabilitative medicine, and pain therapists in connection with another digital health application. New codes have been introduced for the removal and replacement of jejunostomy catheters, outpatient intensive care delivered via video consultations, and the treatment of stage I and II lipedema.
