Published hospital-based HTA in Finland as of August 2026

In August 2026, the Finnish Coordinating Center for Health Technology Assessment (FinCCHTA) announced that five rapid hospital assessments had been completed. 

Three assessments were performed by the Tampere University Hospital. The use of the following technologies was endorsed:

  • Transvenous endovascular treatment of an arteriovenous malformation;
  • Bariatric surgery as a day surgery procedure;
  • Intravascular ultrasound in deep vein thrombosis.

The 2027 version of the Swiss Classification of Surgical Procedures

On July 30, 2026, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (OFS) released the systematic version of the Swiss Classification of Surgical Interventions (CHOP) for 2027. The CHOP classification is now available in German and will come into force on January 1, 2027. Multiple new procedure codes were introduced in various fields, including digital therapeutics, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, obstetrics and gynecology, nephrology and urology, men's health, neuromodulation, orthopedics, and peripheral vascular.

July 2026 recommendations about add-on reimbursement for medical devices in France

In July 2026, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) published new recommendations on the registration of medical devices and medical aids in the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR) following its meetings of the National Commission for the Evaluation of Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CNEDiMTS). Favorable opinions were issued supporting add-on reimbursement for one new device and an extension of the reimbursed indications for another, in the gastrointestinal and peripheral vascular fields.

New THL procedure codes to be introduced in Finland in 2027

In July 2026, the Finnish classification of procedures (THL) was updated. Eighty-four procedure codes concerning cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, pulmonary and airways, radiology, surgical procedures, and some other fields were introduced to come into force on January 1, 2027.

New and Emerging Health Technology Fact Sheets from June 2026 in Spain

In June 2026, two HTA agencies working under the Spanish Network of HTA Agencies (RedETS) released several New and Emerging Health Technology Fact Sheets in cardiovascular, e-health, ENT, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, neuromodulation, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and radiotherapy fields. The purpose of the Fact Sheets is to inform the prioritization of new and emerging technologies for evaluation by RedETS.
