Publication Digest: Characterizing updated and living meta-analyses part 1: a methodological scoping review on methods for conducting meta-analyses in updated and living systematic reviews

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Publications Digest. 

In a recent publication, Konstantinidis et al. reviewed and categorized statistical methods designed for repeated meta-analysis updates in updated and living systematic reviews. The authors identified 51 eligible studies spanning nine methodological categories, with Trial Sequential Analysis being the most frequently reported approach. Most studies focused on pairwise meta-analysis, while only one addressed network meta-analysis. The findings highlighted a substantial methodological gap and a lack of consensus on the optimal strategy for updating meta-analyses.
