On July 30, 2026, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (OFS) released the systematic version of the Swiss Classification of Surgical Interventions (CHOP) for 2027. The CHOP classification is now available in German and will come into force on January 1, 2027. Multiple new procedure codes were introduced in various fields, including digital therapeutics, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, obstetrics and gynecology, nephrology and urology, men's health, neuromodulation, orthopedics, and peripheral vascular.

On June 30, 2026, an independent investigation into maternity and neonatal services in England was published. In response, NHS England introduced a 10-Point Plan setting out urgent actions, while the government announced the appointment of the UK’s first Maternity and Neonatal Commissioner. A comprehensive national action plan, outlining priority measures and long-term reforms, is expected to be published in December 2026.

On June 9, 2026, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health published changes to the Healthcare Benefit Ordinance (KLV/OPre), which determines coverage of medical services in Switzerland. The nearest changes will take effect on July 1, 2026, and include the introduction of the first-trimester preeclampsia screening and adjustment of the tariffs for the highest-grossing laboratory analyses (Annex 3 KLV), changes in reimbursement conditions for medical aids via the List of Medical Aids MiGel (Annex 2 KLV), as well as the expansion of the outpatient-before-inpatient policy (Annex 1a KLV) and update of coverage decisions on the List of explicitly evaluated services (Annex 1 KLV).

On April 20, 2026, the Common Package of Benefits of the Spanish National Health System was amended (by Order SND/356/2026, of April 13, 2026). The key changes relate to diagnostic imaging, in-vitro diagnostics, obstetrics and gynecology, and some other fields.

In December 2025, the Danish Health Data Authority published the DRG tariff system (Takstsystem) guide, which provides an overall description of billing rules, tariffs, and grouping logic for 2026. Among other changes, 17 new DRGs were introduced in the nephrology and urology, obstetrics and gynecology, and some other fields.

On September 5, 2025, the Ministry of Health opened a public consultation on a Draft Ministerial Order to update the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System. The key planned changes are expected in diagnostic imaging, endocrine, gastrointestinal, in-vitro diagnostics, neurology and neurosurgery, and obstetrics and gynecology fields. Input can be submitted via email until September 26, 2025.

In late October 2024, the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT) published several recommendations concerning the Prenatal Testing Program, specifically on removing alpha-fetoprotein and estriol testing and qualifying the placental growth factor (PlGF) test and free fetal DNA testing (cffDNA) as part of non-invasive prenatal diagnostics.

In August 2024, the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) announced the national implementation of the first Integrated Care Program as part of the Intrafederal Plan: care and support for pregnant women, children, and their families during their first 1000 days. Four new INAMI-RIZIV pseudo-nomenclature codes with fees were introduced to cover the key activities within the program.

A new preeclampsia screening algorithm has been evaluated within the "New Method" framework since 2021. The algorithm helps to predict the risk of preeclampsia in the first trimester based on several parameters, including ultrasound examination and measurement of the Placenta Growth Factor (PIGF). In March 2023, the Decision Forum for "New Method" was held and commissioned to perform the implementation study of a new screening algorithm at St. Olav's Hospital.

In December 2022, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released six MedTech-related reports in its Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Journal, which concerned laser therapy in diabetic macular oedema, EarlyCDT Lung blood test, video-assisted thoracoscopic or open lobectomy, urethral slings for stress urinary incontinence, placental growth factor (PlGF) and sFlt-1 tests, and photobiomodulation in the management of oral mucositis. HTA Journal publishes research reports on the effectiveness, costs, and broader impact of health technologies for those who use, manage, and provide care in the NHS and informs National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance.

In December 2022, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published one new Medical Technologies Guidance (Memokath 051 Ureter stent for ureteric obstruction) and one MedTech Innovation Briefing (PromarkerD). Also, two new clinical guidelines were published, and one was updated.

Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) has issued a draft release of the DRG package for 2023, including a new procedure code for intermittent pneumatic compression therapy, a new diagnosis code for guidance in early pregnancy after a fertility program, and several new DRGs for pediatric palliative care, lymphovenous anastomosis surgery and light therapy in inflammatory dermatoses.
