Health Economic Publication Digest: Applying Health Economics and Outcomes Research Methods in Value-Based Healthcare Implementation: An ISPOR Special Task Force Report

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Health Economic Publications Digest. 

In a recent publication, Grueger et al. explored how HEOR methods can strengthen the implementation of value-based healthcare (VBHC). The Task Force reviewed 109 studies and gathered input from international experts. Two-thirds of empirical VBHC studies used HEOR methods, mainly cost analyses, while full economic evaluations remained uncommon. The authors highlighted opportunities to combine HEOR rigor with VBHC’s focus on patient-centered outcomes and introduced the IMPACT checklist as a practical implementation tool.
