Grant application

In May 2026, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development, ZonMw, opened applications for the subsidy round “Paving the way for appropriate care” under the Appropriate Care Framework program. The round supports projects that prepare existing, demonstrably effective interventions covered by the Health Insurance Act for sustainable implementation. The application deadline for the subsidy round is September 1, 2026.

In December 2025, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) opened the submission of applications for the subsidy round “Methodology development for appropriate care” of the Appropriate Care Framework program, intended for the development of new methodologies and conceptual frameworks that underpin future research and (policy) decision-making in appropriate care. The application deadline for the subsidy round is March 31, 2026.

In September-October 2025, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) opened the submission of applications for another two rounds of the Medical Specialist Care and Research (MedZO) program. The applications deadline for “Line 1: Appropriate and efficient care - Round 2” is December 2, 2025; for “Preparatory implementation activities Round 2 - specialist medical care” - December 9, 2025.

In May 2025, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) opened the submission of grant applications for the subsidy round of the Appropriate Care Framework program (2024–2028), which focuses on (de)implementation activities for medical technologies reimbursed under basic health insurance. The deadline for submitting a detailed grant application is July 3, 2025.

In April 2025, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) opened the submission of grant applications for subsidy rounds for two Med Tech-related programs: the Innovative Medical Devices Initiative (IMDI) program and the Care Evaluation and Appropriate Use program.

In July 2020, new subsidy options for medical aids care at home became available within the Dutch program Good use of care at home (GGH). By funding research, the GGH program stimulates knowledge development about the quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of innovative medical aids care at home. The deadline for submitting applications is 6 October 2020.
