The 2026 application window for changes in the CHOP Classification announced

In February 2026, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office (Bundesamt für Statistik, BFS) announced the timelines for the application window for changes to the Swiss Classification of Surgical Operations (CHOP), meaning the procedure will resume in 2026 after it was cancelled for 2025. The application window will open on June 1, 2026.

The interested parties (Swiss Medical Association (FMH), the Conference of the Cantonal Ministers of Public Health (GDK), Swiss Association of Hospitals (H+), SwissDRG, health insurance companies and their associations, and the Medical Tariff Commission (MTK) can submit applications until September 14, 2026.
