Molecular gene profile analysis with Oncotype DX to be covered for extended indications in Norway
On May 18, 2026, the Decision Forum for “New Methods” updated its coverage decision for molecular gene profile analysis using Oncotype DX, a test used to predict the likely benefit of chemotherapy in patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative, early-stage invasive breast cancer.
Since 2024, the test has been covered in Norway for postmenopausal patients with lymph node-positive disease. Following a new price offer from the manufacturer and an updated price note prepared by the Hospital Procurement Authority (Sykehusinnkjøp HF), the Decision Forum concluded that Oncotype DX may also be introduced for patients with lymph node-negative breast cancer.
The following decision was made:
- Molecular gene profile analysis using Oncotype DX is introduced as a test to predict the benefit of chemotherapy in HR-positive, HER2-negative, early-stage invasive breast cancer with lymph node-negative disease.
- Coverage is conditional on the price being equal to or lower than the price on which the decision is based.
- The necessary agreements must be in place before the test can be used at the offered price.
