June 2026 opportunity to apply for the EU Joint Scientific Consultations is now open

On June 3, 2026, the submission period opened for Joint Scientific Consultation (JSC) requests under the EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation (HTAR) framework. The deadline for submitting requests is July 1, 2026.

JSCs enable developers to seek advice on study planning for their products, with a focus on the data and evidence requirements for a future Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA). The process is intended to support more efficient evidence generation and improve the quality and relevance of future submissions.

Developers of medicines, medical devices classified as class IIb or III, and in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) classified as class D may now apply for the following planned JSC time slots:

• Briefing document submitted by October 26, 2026: discussion meeting to be held during the week of February 8, 2027, or March 15, 2027;
• Briefing document submitted by November 23, 2026: discussion meeting to be held during the week of April 12, 2027.

The briefing document is a more detailed dossier submitted after a JSC request has been approved.
