The G-BA Innovation Committee published funding priorities for healthcare research projects and clinical guidelines in Germany

On June 19, 2026, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) published the determined funding priorities for healthcare research projects and clinical guidelines.

The following funding priorities were defined for healthcare research projects:

• Needs-based management in outpatient psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care;
• Patient education for disease management programs;
• Health services research to improve needs-based and patient-centered decision-making regarding invasive interventions in very elderly frail patients;
• Extent, types, and impact of artificial intelligence applications already used in healthcare delivery.

Applications for project funding that cannot be assigned to any of the thematic areas may be submitted under the open-topic funding announcement.

The deadline for submitting applications for healthcare research projects is October 20, 2026, at 12:00 noon, while the deadline for clinical guidelines is September 22, 2026, at 12:00 noon.

Applications can only be submitted electronically via the internet portal of the commissioned project management agency, the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR).
