Pulmonology procedures

On 20 October 2026, the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) published an update to the List of implants and invasive medical devices, effective from 1 November 2026. Four new material codes were introduced for intracoronary imaging catheters, radial endobronchial ultrasound probes, and custom-made implants for external aortic support. Notably, the update establishes specific reimbursement for materials used in intracoronary imaging and radial endobronchial ultrasound procedures for the first time in Belgium.

On June 26, 2024, the document "Changes and innovations in the 2025 LKF model" (Änderungen und Neuerungen in den LKF-Modellen 2025) was published. The document summarizes the most significant changes and innovations in the LKF model for inpatient and outpatient care. The newly added procedure codes mainly concern e-health, interventional radiology, pulmonary and airways, and surgical procedures fields.

On July 2, 2024, the revised EBM (German Uniform Evaluation Standard) catalog for the third quarter of 2024 was published. The changes introduced mainly concern updating the content of several EBM sections with the respective comments and/or clarifications and introducing the new EBM codes for several companion diagnostics tests, for follow-up and evaluation of the “Kranus Lutera” health app, and for the services provided within the co-funded study on bronchoscopic lung volume reduction in severe pulmonary emphysema using thermal ablation (rp-RL BTVA).

The HTA body of the Tuscany Regional Healthcare issues three types of documents: full HTA reports, rapid HTA reports, and motivational forms. With regional decree 2935 of February 13, 2024, Tuscany Regional Healthcare has published assessments of four medical devices in the cardiovascular and peripheral vascular, ICU/OR, pulmonary and airways, dermatology, and robotic surgery areas.

On January 01, 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) published the updated list of medical procedures reimbursed under basic health insurance with restrictions or limitations. The procedures that were newly introduced to the list concern pulmonary, gynecology and ENT procedures, as well as genetic testing.

On November 14, 2023, the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) published the DRG catalog (Fallpauschalen-Katalog) with the list of DRGs and additional reimbursement categories (ZEs) for 2024.

In September 2023, several ongoing mini-HTA assessments for e-health, gastrointestinal, IVD, neurology and neurosurgery, peripheral vascular, pulmonary and airways, and some other fields are evaluated as a part of a framework for the managed introduction of innovations "New Methods" in Norway.

In September 2023, the Galician Agency for Health Technology Assessment (AVALIA-T) is working on several HTAs, including the evaluations in the cardiovascular, e-health, endoscopy, extracorporeal treatment, ICU/OR, nephrology and urology, IVD, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, peripheral vascular, pulmonary and airways, surgical procedures, and some other fields.

In July 2023, the ZIN announced one more project awarded under round 7 of the Promising care subsidy scheme in 2023. Two more projects within this round were awarded at the end of March 2023. The new project relates to bronchial thermoplasty and will last six years.

On April 20, 2023, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the first release of the DRG package for 2024 (RZ24a). Twenty-three new procedure codes, nine new supplementary payments, and thirteen new DRGs will be implemented across gynecology, pulmonary, extracorporeal treatments, and other technology groups.

On March 8, 2023, the Ministry of Health and Prevention published an Order in the Official Journal of the French Republic on the coverage of the INTERVAPOR system for lung volume reduction under Forfait innovation program.
