Forty-five applications for innovation funding for healthcare research projects were accepted in Germany
On June 9, 2026, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) announced that forty-five applications for innovation funding of healthcare research projects were accepted.
The examples of topics the applications were submitted for are provided below:
- Promoting transplant medicine care – analyzing the identification and reporting of potential post-mortem organ donors in hospitals and deriving recommendations for action: 3;
- Care for patients with post-viral symptom complexes such as post/long-term COVID, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS): 3;
- Health services research to improve the care of individuals with ophthalmologic diseases: 2;
- Open topic: 20.
In total, the Innovation Committee received 268 applications for its two funding announcements (topic-specific and open-topic) of June 20, 2025. 112 of these related to the topic-specific funding announcement, 56 to the open-topic announcement. In evaluating the applications, the Innovation Committee considered the recommendations of its advisory panel, the so-called Expert Pool.
